Shrewsbury Electric - Industrial Rate

General Service Rate (GS-1)

Effective September 1, 1999 MDTE # 134 (Cancels MDPU # 127)

Availability:

Service under this rate is available for all uses by commercial or industrial customers a monthly peak kW demand greater than 12,500 kWh or a monthly peak kW demand greater than 100kW.

A customer may be transferred from rate GS-1 at its request if the customer's 12-month average monthly usage is less than 8,000 kW per month. A customer may be transferred at the option of Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric if the customer fails to meet the availability criteria.

No service will be furnished hereunder to a customer for resale in whole or in part within Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric's service territory.

 
Character of Service: 120/240 volt single phase, 120/208, 240, 480, or 277/480, 4160 volt three phase and 13,800 volt three phase.
 
Rate:
Customer Charge
$ 50.00 per month
 
Distribution Charge
$ 0.0109 per kWh
Transmission Charge
$ 0.0049 per kWh
Transition Charge
$ 0.0210 per kWh and
$ 4.15/kW
Generation Service Charge
$ 0.0280 per kWh
Minimum Bill: The minimum bill will be the customer charge plus the demand charge.
 
Billing Demand: Maximum 15 minutes measured kW demand in the month, but not less than 80% of the maximum demand established during the preceding 11 months. A 15-minute demand established during the preceding 11 months before application of this rate will become the billing demand under this rate.
 
Power Factor: If the power factor of the customer falls below 90%, the customer will be required to install corrective measures within three months after notification, or be billed 90% of the maximum 15 minutes measured KVA demand in the month to compensate for his operation at the lower power
factor.
 
Term of Service: Customer served under this rate must provide Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric with two years of prior written notice before:

(1) purchasing, allowing to be purchased, or using electricity from any source other than Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric; or

(2) installing or allowing to be installed for its use a non-emergency generator with a nameplate capacity greater than that in place on the customer's location as of July 1, 1994. In the event a customer closes its facility and/or terminates service without the two years prior written notice, the customer will be required to pay the equivalent of two years of demand charges under Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric's "General Service" rate, as in effect from time to time. The amount of such demand shall be the average amount used by the customer for the two years before the customer terminated service.
 
Transformer Ownership and Primary Metering Discount:
3% discount when energy is metered at 4160 volt and above, and Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric is not required to furnish the transformers.
Transmission Charge: Transmission service is required for all customers taking service under this rate.
 
Transition Charge: The transition charge will be applied to all customers taking service under this rate. The transition charge will be adjusted from time to time but no more frequently than once every two months. The transition charge shall include all costs associated with electric generation including costs of generating capacity, fuel costs, generation operating costs, losses incurred in the transmission of energy and all costs associated with local generation less Generation Service Charges as set forth under this rate.
 
Generation Charges: Generation charges shall apply to all customers taking service under this rate.
 
Farm Discount: Customers who meet the eligibility requirements for being engaged in the business of agriculture or farming as defined in M.G.L. Chapter 128 Section 1a at their service location are eligible for an additional discount from their distribution service rates. The discount will be calculated as 10% of the customer's total bill for service provided by the company before application of this discount. Customers who meet the requirements of this section must provide the company with appropriate documentation of their eligibility under this provision.
 
Terms and Conditions: Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric's Terms and Conditions in effect from time to time, where not inconsistent with any specific provisions hereof, are a part of this rate.

A customer may be transferred from rate GS-2 if the customer's 12-month average monthly kW demand is less than 2,000 kW per month. A customer may be transferred at the option of Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric if the customer fails to meet the availability criteria.

No service will be furnished hereunder to a customer for resale in whole or in part within Shrewsbury's Shrewsbury Electric's service territory.
